過山車（或又稱為云霄飛車），是一種機動游樂設(shè)施，常見于游樂園和主題樂園中。拉馬庫斯·阿德納·湯普森是率先注冊過山車相關(guān)專利技術(shù)的人，并曾制造過數(shù)10個過山車設(shè)施，因此被譽稱為“重力之父”。過山車雖然驚悚恐怖，但是基本上是非常安全的設(shè)施。

一旦過山車走完了它的行程，制動裝置就會非常安全地使過山車停下來。減速的快慢是由制動氣缸中氣體的壓力來控制的。
